What's for Dinner and School Lunch : Week of 5/17/26
Happy Sunday!
How many more weeks of school do you guys have left?! I think we have about 3- so so crazy how fast this year passed!
As always, these recipes are mostly gluten-free ( 2 of us are gluten-free at home, if any changes have to be made to make the recipe gluten-free, I do specify in the recipe.) and designed for two adults and three kids ages 15,12 and 4.
Scroll down and you will find what I send for lunch for two of my three kids. School lunch is yet another source of harmful chemicals for most kids so, while it can be a pain to prep lunch in the morning, it is an important way to reduce overall toxic burden in kiddos, especially the youngest ones! I often send leftovers to make my life easier.
DINNER
Monday: Stir Fry beef and broccoli
Get the best quality meat you can- if you can find regeneratively farmed that’s even better!
Tuesday: Chicken Shawarma bowls.
We will be serving on quinoa with a side of salad for the kids and as a full salad for adults and teen instead of pita
Wednesday: chicken fajita night
Build your own anything (in this case tacos) is always a hit with the kids. My kids dont like peppers nor onions so I might have to get creative here and replace these with something else or keep them really simple just chicken and avocado. I might make my own tortillas with organic masa marina if I have time- this is so so easy - I don’t even have a tortilla press but can flatten with a big flat plate and parchment paper. Here are more detailed instructions
Thursday: baked asian turkey meatballs
I love this recipe because you can serve them on lettuce cups or on pasta or rice… really whatever you prefer!
Friday: pasta Friday!
SCHOOL LUNCH
We use bento style school lunch containers for my preschooler and larger containers made out of stainless steel for my sixth grader. For the preschooler, items I usually send her with include: berries, tomatoes, cucumbers, kiwi, grapes, carrots and hummus, edamame, organic corn, green bean ( with some butter)... These are usually snack foods that we find travel well.
Pasta with green beans and butter
sliced turkey, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese salad (deconstructed for toddler)
Left over chicken shawarma with quinoa
Quesadillas
Hard boiled egg and hummus salad (just mash the two and mix!) sandwich
Here is to a great week! xx Aida
