Unpopular opinion : Amazon helps make low tox living easier for me (+ my low tox living buys)
but only when used responsibly
Unpopular opinion : Amazon helps make low tox living easier for me.
Amazon has a bad wrap amongst the wellness and sustainability community- and for good reason; they are guilty of so much waste, their carbon footprint is huge, and also we consumers are to blame at using it as our very own butler service: need something on Monday? Order it and it arrive on Tuesday (or Monday sometimes) but then, need something else on Tuesday? Order it on Tuesday and it arrives on Wednesday…. And then need something on Wednesday? Just order it…. You get it….
HOWEVER - WHEN USED RESPONSiBLY - Amazon can be part of a sustainable life and can def make low tox living easier- it does for me!
How to shop responsibly on Amazon
ONLY BUY WHAT YOU NEED. That means don’t let your fav fashion influencer convince you to get the latest Amazon Fashion finds (which by the way are like 95% of the time polyester) or the professional organizer convince you that you need to overhaul every closet and purchase tons of plastic containers for organizing…. Instead just buy what you need and will use. This is better for the environment and for your wallet too!
Organize your shopping list: don’t treat Amazon as a personal butler service that can deliver every single day. Instead, treat it as a supermarket; make a list and choose one day to order everything. Alternately choose an Amazon Delivery date for your home.
Shop from Idea Lists from wellness professionals like myself (you can Google “Amazon 3 little plums (or another handle) and you will be taken to my Amazon Lists that list products I have approved and shop. This will keep you buying only sustainable and low tox products!
Here are some essentials we buy at home
Badger sunscreen (the toxin free sunscreen we have used consistently for the whole family for years)
Blueland dishwashing tablets ( non toxic ingredients AND really cleans)
Branch Basics concentrate (will last up to 2 months and can make all kinds of cleaners!)
Caboo toilet paper (PFAS, BPA and chlorine bleach free ).
Other Products we often buy on Amazon
Truly Free Natural Stain Stick: these work well for stains and, again, non toxic ingredients!
Molly Suds Laundry detergent (we usually get fragrance free- I find this detergent is better at cleaning really stinky sweaty clothes)
Meliora laundry detergent: I still use this one for my daughter and even myself . Love that it is also plastic free
